We’re a professional retail real estate consulting company. For our tenants - regional, national, and international retailers - we specialize in market evaluation, strategic planning, site selection, market penetration plans, lease and purchase negotiation, demographic analysis, and development services. For our property owners, we provide market evaluation, property positioning, leasing and marketing strategy, lease negotiation, and development services.

Our goal for our clients is to make the right deals, not every deal. We provide information, insight, perspective, and guidance. Sometimes that guidance may be not to make the deal.

  • 1989 Thomas Ferrara opens T. Ferrara & Co., A real estate consulting and brokerage firm
  • 1991 Company moves to 45 Exchange Boulevard in Rochester, NY
  • 1993 Douglas Jerum joins T. Ferrara & Co.
  • 1996 Company initiates a Build-to-Suit program for its tenants
  • 1997 Company represents Starbucks Coffee Company opening their first location in Upstate NY

  • 2011 FJI becomes Northeast Regional Co-Master Broker for LA Fitness in cooperation with RealSource Partners
  • 2012 FJI completes 50th Walmart transaction
  • 2012 FJI represents LA Fitness opening their first location in Upstate NY in Irondequoit (Rochester), NY

    Past Experience: 5+ years with CBRE in New York City as an integral member of a top-producing brokerage team. Helped spearhead the international rollout of a European client, and facilitated the continued U.S. expansion of many local and national brands including Fossil and Aldo Shoes. Prior to CBRE, Katherine worked as an Account Executive with Ricoh Americas Corporation in their Washington, DC and Rochester, NY.
    Role at FJI: A member of the property leasing team, resonsbile for leasing various properties for the clients of FJI.

  • Yixuan Lin
    Research Coordinator / Project Manager

    Past Experience: Masters in Urban Planning from University at Buffalo with a specialty in Planning Technologies; GIS Technician for City of Rochester Planning Department; Various Architectural internships.
    Role at FJI: Responsible for all mapping and demographic research. Provides geographic-based market and site analysis for all of the company’s real estate professionals. Manages production of all marketing and collateral materials. Administers the company web site.
